As students were busy taking some time off from learning, agriculture teachers from around New York State gathered to sharpen their woodworking and masonry skills to take home to their classrooms for the upcoming school year. This annual event, organized by the New York Agricultural Teacher’s Association, was held at HCS. Each year, teachers gather at a different school to gain experience in specific agriculture-related fields. This year, participants explored various topics related to woodworking including safety, use of equipment and tools, and potential classroom projects. Together, the participants constructed two picnic tables, toolboxes, and explored Adirondack chair production. Picnic tables will be used as a prototype for this year’s woodworking class at HCS. A short masonry unit was also included, where teachers focused on integrating mathematics into their agriculture classes. A new addition to the Bossard family was also in attendance. Oliver Bossard, a twelve-week-old Golden Retriever pup, was a huge hit with the entire group!
